About Naturopathy
-
Naturopathy, (pronounced nah-tro-pa-thee) is where holistic healthcare originated and continues to flourish from. It focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of your health issues, rather than just treating symptoms.
Naturopaths are proudly guided by seven naturopathic principles:
The Healing Power of Nature (vis medicatrix naturae)
Treat the whole Person (tolle totum)
Identify and Treat the Cause (primum non nocere)
Disease Prevention & Health Promotion
First do no Harm (primum non nocere)
Naturopathic Practitioner as Teacher (docere)
Wellness (sanitatem)
Whilst these principles seem simple they are grounded in the wisdom of ancient cultures and continue to guide safe and effective patient-centered care that focuses on the wellbeing and vitality of the whole person; including physiology, psychology, lifestyle, environment, and social, rather than focusing on symptoms alone.
-
Naturopaths spend more time with you, ask a broad range of questions and perform physical examinations eg looking at hands, nails and tongue, to aid a thorough assessment. They incorporate blood and functional testing if necessary and make the entire process of developing a tailored treatment a collaborative process for the patient. Naturopaths welcome the opportunity to work alongside your existing healthcare team.
-

Yes, naturopathy can often complement pharmaceutical medications however practicing as a Naturopath in Australia requires to always check for contraindications before prescribing anything new. This is why we require a full list of current medications at intake and to be notified of any changes at any point during your treatment program.
Booking and Consultations
-
You can book easily online via the Simple Clinic booking portal, or contact me directly for help via email. Both in-person and telehealth appointments are available for your convenience.
-
Your first session is a 60-minute comprehensive health assessment. We’ll discuss your health history, lifestyle, symptoms, goals, and any previous tests or reports. Together, we’ll develop immediate, manageable action steps and discuss whether further testing or follow-up may help.
-
Your active preparation for the consultation increases the progress we can make during our time together. This includes completing the intake form you will receive by email, providing any recent pathology or test results and itemising details of any medications and supplements you are taking.
-
Follow-ups are tailored to your progress and needs. An extended follow-up (45 minutes) is ideal for discussing test results and refining your plan, while standard (30 minutes) or acute (20 minutes) consults address shorter-term issues or check in on progress.
-
Whilst there may be some circumstances where having a support person is necessary e.g. for interpretation or accessibility, it is preferred that you attend alone so that we develop patient-practitioner rapport and encourage open communication (except in the case of a minor where a guardian must be present) .

This depends on your goals, health history, and consistency with your treatment plan. Some people notice changes within days or weeks, while others need more time. The focus is always on sustainable realistic progress and regular monitoring with support. Chronic conditions will take longer than acute conditions and everybody is different so it is best to discuss this in the consultation if you have any concerns.
-
Your holistic treatment plan will be tailored to fit in with you. In most cases we will start with food and lifestyle but they will be realistic and feel achievable.
